01Will a Pixel 9 case fit the Pixel 10? Not properly
A Pixel 9 case will not fit a Pixel 10 properly, even though the two phones have the same height and width. The Pixel 10's camera bar is larger, and the buttons sit in slightly different spots. People who've tried report the case pinching and bulging around the back.
On paper, it looks like it should work. Google kept the Pixel 10 and 10 Pro at 152.8 × 72.0 mm, the same as the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro, and only added 0.1 mm of depth. The Pixel 10 Pro XL matches the 9 Pro XL to the tenth of a millimeter. The problem is everything a case wraps around: the camera bar, the button positions and the curve of the frame.
| Model | Height | Width | Depth | Built-in magnets |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pixel 9 | 152.8 mm | 72.0 mm | 8.5 mm | No |
| Pixel 10 | 152.8 mm | 72.0 mm | 8.6 mm | Yes (Pixelsnap) |
| Pixel 9 Pro | 152.8 mm | 72.0 mm | 8.5 mm | No |
| Pixel 10 Pro | 152.8 mm | 72.0 mm | 8.6 mm | Yes (Pixelsnap) |
| Pixel 9 Pro XL | 162.8 mm | 76.6 mm | 8.5 mm | No |
| Pixel 10 Pro XL | 162.8 mm | 76.6 mm | 8.5 mm | Yes (Pixelsnap) |
02Check your combination
Pick your phone and the model the case was made for. The Pixel 9 and 9 Pro share a body, and so do the 10 and 10 Pro, so we've treated those pairs the same.

03The bigger reason to switch: Pixelsnap magnets
The Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL and 10 Pro Fold are the first Pixels with Qi2 magnets built in. Google calls it Pixelsnap. Magnetic chargers, stands, car mounts and MagSafe-compatible accessories snap straight onto the back of the phone.
Put a Pixel 9 case on, and you add a layer of plastic with no magnets in it between the phone and the accessory. Google's own support page warns that non-magnetic cases result in weak or no attachment and unreliable charging. It also says to avoid non-Qi2 cases that include metal or magnets, because those can interfere.

- Magnet ring lines up with Pixelsnap
- Chargers, grips and mounts click on firmly
No case
- Strongest magnetic hold
- No drop protection
- Camera bar takes every knock

04Pixel 10 cases that fit properly
Look for the exact model in the listing, a camera cutout made for the Pixel 10 bar, and a magnet ring if you plan to use Pixelsnap chargers or magnetic grips. A case that lists several generations should let you pick your model; check yours is named before you buy.
Two of these have magnets built in for Pixelsnap and MagSafe-compatible accessories.
Pro XL owners can browse Pixel 10 Pro XL cases directly. To see only gear that fits your phone across the whole store, save your model in Find My Phone.
If your Pixel 10 charges on a pad bare but not in its case, the case is too thick or has metal in it. Our Pixel wireless charging fixes walk through it.
Questions people ask
Are Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 cases the same?
No. The phones share the same height and width, but the Pixel 10 has a larger camera bar and slightly moved buttons. Pixel 9 cases pinch around the camera and don't sit flush.
Will a Pixel 10 case fit a Pixel 9?
Often, yes, though not perfectly. The camera opening is bigger than the Pixel 9 needs, so it may look a little loose there. A magnetic Pixel 10 case lets magnetic mounts hold a Pixel 9, but the Pixel 9 doesn't gain Qi2 charging.
Will a Pixel 9 Pro XL case fit the Pixel 10 Pro XL?
Not well. Both measure 162.8 × 76.6 × 8.5 mm, but hands-on reports found Pixel 9 cases fit the Pro XL worse than the base Pixel 10 because of the camera bar. Buy a case made for the Pixel 10 Pro XL.
Do Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro use the same case?
They share the same 152.8 × 72.0 × 8.6 mm body, so many cases are listed for both. Check the listing names your model, since camera cutouts can vary by brand.
Does the Pixel 10a have magnets?
No. Google's Pixelsnap support page excludes the Pixel 10a. It charges wirelessly on standard Qi pads without magnetic alignment. To use magnetic mounts or grips, you'd need an adhesive metal ring, and charging stays at regular Qi speeds.
