Does the Pixel 10 have MagSafe? Yes, it's called Pixelsnap

Google built Qi2 magnets into the Pixel 10 and called it Pixelsnap. MagSafe-compatible chargers, wallets and grips snap on, as long as your case doesn't get in the way.

01Does the Pixel 10 have MagSafe? Not by name, but yes

The Pixel 10 doesn't have MagSafe, which is Apple's trademark, but it has the same idea built in. Every Pixel 10 except the 10a has Qi2 magnets inside, and Google calls the feature Pixelsnap. MagSafe-compatible chargers, wallets, grips and mounts attach to it.

This is the first Pixel generation with magnets. The Pixel 9 and earlier charge wirelessly on Qi, but with no magnetic alignment, so chargers can slide off-center. Google's support page is clear that the Pixel 10 series and Pixel 11 series work with Pixelsnap accessories, and the Pixel 10a is excluded.

02What works with Pixelsnap

Pixelsnap follows the Qi2 standard, and Qi2 uses the same magnet ring layout that MagSafe made popular. So most magnetic accessories built for iPhone line up on a Pixel 10.

  • Qi2 chargers: snap on and charge at the phone's Qi2 speed. Google lists any Qi2-certified device as compatible.
  • Apple's MagSafe chargers: Google says Apple MagSafe chargers are compatible with Pixel 10 and 11 phones (not the 10a), with Apple's Qi2-certified 2024 chargers giving up to 15W. The original 2020 MagSafe Charger manages only 5W on a Pixel.
  • Wallets, grips, stands and car mounts: they only need the magnets, so they attach the same way they would on an iPhone.
  • Magnetic power banks: attach and charge. Expect them to be slower and warmer than a cable, as with any wireless charging.
Want the full 25W?

Only the Pixel 10 Pro XL reaches 25W wirelessly in the Pixel 10 lineup, and it needs a Qi2.2 (25W) charger such as Google's own Pixelsnap Charger. On a Pixel 10 or 10 Pro, a 15W Qi2 charger is all you need, so don't overspend on the charger.

03Pixelsnap vs MagSafe: the real differences

For day-to-day use, the two behave alike: a magnet ring on the back, accessories that click on, and a charger that lines itself up. The differences are in the details.

  • Speed depends on the phone. An iPhone 17 or 18 Pro reaches 25W on MagSafe or Qi2. Among Pixel 10 models, only the 10 Pro XL gets 25W; the others stop at 15W. The whole Pixel 11 lineup supports 25W.
  • The standard is open. Pixelsnap is Qi2, so any Qi2-certified charger is fair game. You aren't tied to Google's own accessories.
  • Older Pixels miss out. A Pixel 9 can't be upgraded to Pixelsnap with a case. A magnetic case will hold accessories on it, but charging stays plain Qi without the alignment Qi2 relies on.

If you're moving from an iPhone, your MagSafe-compatible wallet, grip and car mount should come with you. Check your charger: an older non-Qi2 magnetic pad will still charge a Pixel 10, just not always at its top speed.

04The case catch: magnets or no magnets

The magnets in your Pixel 10 only help if they can reach the accessory. Google's own guidance says non-magnetic cases result in weak or no attachment and unreliable charging. It also says not to put metal or magnetic objects between the charger and the phone.

In plain terms: a regular case adds distance and a slippery surface. A magnetic case has its own ring lined up with the phone's, so accessories grip the case firmly and charging stays aligned.

Pick a case that keeps Pixelsnap working

That last point catches upgraders. Pixel 9 cases don't fit the Pixel 10 properly, and they block the magnets too. Details in will a Pixel 9 case fit the Pixel 10.

05Set it up in four steps

  1. Check your model

Go to Settings > About phone. If it says Pixel 10a, you don't have magnets and Pixelsnap accessories won't attach on their own.

  2. Fit a magnetic case

Or go caseless at the desk. Either way, nothing non-magnetic should sit between the phone and the accessory.

  3. Match charger to phone

    A 15W Qi2 or MagSafe-compatible charger suits the Pixel 10 and 10 Pro. The 10 Pro XL can use a 25W Qi2.2 charger.

  4. Give the charger enough power

A magnetic charger is only as fast as the USB-C adapter behind it. Use the adapter its maker recommends; a 20W or higher brick is a sensible starting point for 15W pads.

Pro XL owners can browse Pixel 10 Pro XL cases. Save your phone in Find My Phone to filter the store. Having trouble charging? See Pixel wireless charging not working.

Questions people ask

Is Pixelsnap the same as MagSafe?

Not officially, but it works the same way. Pixelsnap is Google's name for Qi2 magnets built into the Pixel 10 and 11 series. Qi2 uses the same magnetic layout as MagSafe, so most MagSafe-compatible accessories attach.

Does the Pixel 10a have Pixelsnap?

No. Google excludes the Pixel 10a from Pixelsnap compatibility. It charges on standard Qi pads, but without built-in magnets.

Can I use an Apple MagSafe charger on a Pixel 10?

Yes. Google says Apple MagSafe chargers are compatible with Pixel 10 and 11 phones, except the 10a. Apple's Qi2-certified 2024 chargers deliver up to 15W; the older 2020 version only 5W.

How fast does the Pixel 10 charge wirelessly?

Up to 15W on the Pixel 10 and 10 Pro with a Qi2 charger. The Pixel 10 Pro XL goes up to 25W on a Qi2.2 charger. Every Pixel 11 model supports 25W.

Do MagSafe wallets work on the Pixel 10?

Yes, on the bare phone or a magnetic case. A regular non-magnetic case weakens the hold, and Google warns it can stop accessories attaching at all.
