01Can you get MagSafe for Android?
Not by name, but in practice yes. MagSafe for Android comes down to one question: where does the magnet ring live? In the phone, in the case, or on a sticker you add yourself.
MagSafe is Apple's trademark for the ring of magnets in iPhone 12 and later. The Wireless Power Consortium later folded that same magnet layout into its Qi2 standard, which is why a Qi2 charger and a MagSafe-compatible grip snap onto the same ring. Our Qi2 vs MagSafe post covers the history. What matters for you is that Android accessories and iPhone accessories now share one ring size.
Phone magnets, case magnets or a metal ring: any one of the three is enough for grips, wallets and mounts.Chargers are pickier. For full Qi2 speed the phone itself has to support Qi2.
That split explains most of the confusion online. A magnetic case on almost any Android phone will hold a grip or a car mount. Faster magnetic charging is a separate feature that only Qi2 phones get, magnets or not.
02Android magnets, brand by brand
| Phone | Magnets built in? | Easiest way to go magnetic |
|---|---|---|
| Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, 10 Pro Fold | Yes (Pixelsnap) | Nothing needed; a magnetic case keeps the hold strong |
| Pixel 11 series | Yes (Pixelsnap) | Nothing needed; a magnetic case keeps the hold strong |
| Pixel 10a, Pixel 9 and earlier | No | Magnetic case |
| Galaxy S25 and S26 series | No, Qi2 Ready | Magnetic case |
| Galaxy S24 and older, Galaxy A series | No | Magnetic case, or ring sticker |
| Galaxy Z Fold8 | No, Qi2 Ready | Magnetic case made for it |
| Motorola Edge 70 Max | Yes | Nothing needed |
| HMD Skyline | Yes | Nothing needed |
| Most other Android phones | No | Magnetic case if one exists for your model, otherwise a ring sticker |
Pixel and Samsung owners can go deeper: does the Pixel 10 have MagSafe covers Pixelsnap speeds and charger choices, and does Samsung have MagSafe has wireless speeds for every recent Galaxy.
03Case, sticker or built-in: the three routes
Built-in magnets
- Works on the bare phone
- Qi2 chargers align on their own
- Still worth a magnetic case if you use one
Magnetic case
- Ring molded where the coil is
- No adhesive to fail
- Strongest hold for grips and mounts
Ring sticker
- Fits any flat back
- A few dollars
- Placement and adhesive are on you
We'd go magnetic case for any phone that has one available. A case puts the ring exactly over the charging coil, which a hand-placed sticker only gets right if you're careful. Stickers make sense for older or less common phones, or for a case you love that has no magnets. The trade-offs are laid out in MagSafe case vs ring sticker.
Use a ring-shaped sticker, not a solid metal plate. A full plate covers the charging coil and blocks wireless charging. Rings leave the center open.
04What MagSafe accessories do on Android
- Grips and wallets: work on any Android phone with a magnet ring from the phone, case or sticker. Grips hold best on a case with magnets; a sticker is steel and grabs a little less firmly.
- Car mounts and stands: same rule. Heavier phones like the Galaxy S Ultra models need the stronger hold of a magnetic case, especially on bumpy roads.
- Magnetic chargers: charge any Qi phone, but Qi2 speeds only arrive on Qi2 phones. On a Galaxy S24 or a Pixel 9 a magnetic pad charges at basic Qi rates, it just stays put.
- Magnetic power banks: attach and charge like a magnetic pad. Expect slower, warmer charging than a cable.
In short, the magnets handle the holding and Qi2 handles the speed. If you only want a grip or a car mount, any route works. If fast cable-free charging matters, check that your phone lists Qi2 or Qi2 Ready.
Switching from iPhone? Your gear mostly comes with you
Grips, wallets, desk stands and magnetic car mounts only care about the ring, so they carry over to an Android phone once it has one. Two things don't transfer as neatly. Apple's original 2020 MagSafe Charger manages only about 5W on a Pixel, according to Google, so it's a slow overnight charger at best. And heavier phones change the maths on car mounts: a mount that held an iPhone 15 fine may struggle with a Galaxy S Ultra on a thin sticker. If the hold feels weaker than it did on your iPhone, the ring source is the first thing to upgrade, not the mount.

Questions people ask
Is there a MagSafe equivalent for Android?
Yes. Qi2 uses the same magnet ring layout as MagSafe. Google's Pixel 10 and 11 phones build it in as Pixelsnap, Samsung's Galaxy S25 and S26 support it through magnetic cases, and any phone can add a ring with a sticker.
Do MagSafe accessories work with Samsung phones?
Yes, once the phone has a magnet ring from a case or sticker. Galaxy phones have no magnets built in, so grips, wallets and mounts won't hold on the bare phone. A magnetic case is the cleanest fix.
Does a magnetic ring sticker block wireless charging?
A ring-shaped sticker centered on the coil generally doesn't, because the middle stays open. A solid metal plate does. If charging stops after you add a sticker, check it's centered and that it's a ring, not a disc.
Can I use an Apple MagSafe charger on Android?
It will charge most Qi phones, but speeds vary. Google says Apple's newer Qi2-certified MagSafe chargers reach up to 15W on Pixel 10 and 11 models, while the original 2020 charger gives only 5W. A Qi2 charger is a safer bet.
Which Android phones have magnets built in?
As of late 2026, the Pixel 10 series (except the 10a), the Pixel 11 series, the Motorola Edge 70 Max and the HMD Skyline. Samsung's flagships don't; they rely on magnetic cases. Check your phone's spec page for new models.
