Magnetic vent or dash mount
Pull the phone straight off at each stop and slap it back on. No arms to open, no aiming. Make sure the case has a magnetic ring.
Magnetic mountsGravity or spring clamp mount
Works with any phone and case, and grips hard over potholes. Gravity mounts close as you drop the phone in, which is the quickest clamp style for frequent stops.
Clamp mountsLocking handlebar mount
A mount that clamps the phone on all four corners, plus a waterproof bag for rainy shifts. On scooters and motorbikes, add vibration damping.
Bike mountsMost mount reviews are written for commuters who set the phone down once and drive. Delivery drivers might take the phone off the mount dozens of times a shift, often with a bag in the other hand. That's why one-handed release matters more than anything else on the spec sheet.
A mount that needs two hands to open, or that only grips when the phone is lined up perfectly, costs you a few seconds at every stop. Over a long shift, that adds up to real time, and real frustration.
02In the car: why magnetic mounts win for drop-offs
+Magnetic mount: why it works
- Phone comes off and goes back on with one hand
- No arms to wear out from constant opening
- Works in portrait or landscape
- Charging versions exist if your phone supports magnetic wireless charging
–Magnetic mount: the catch
- Needs magnets in the phone or a magnetic case
- Thick rugged cases weaken the hold
- Cheap magnets can let go on big potholes
- Wireless charging versions run warm on hot days
If your phone doesn't have built-in magnets, a magnetic case or a stick-on ring works. If you'd rather not, a gravity clamp is the next best thing: drop the phone in and the side arms close under its weight; lift it out and they open. If your current magnetic mount slips, see magnetic mount not holding before buying a new one.

03On a bike, e-bike or scooter
Two-wheel delivery is rougher on a phone. Curbs, potholes and tram tracks hit the mount directly, and if the phone flies off, it lands on asphalt. Use a mount that holds the phone on all corners or locks in place, never a simple spring clip.
- Handlebar or stem? Stem mounts sit closer and are better protected; handlebar mounts are easier to see. Our handlebar vs stem guide explains the trade-off.
- Rain: a waterproof bag mount keeps the phone usable through the window. Water-resistant phones still don't love a soaking shift after shift.
- Vibration: Apple warns that strong vibration from high-power motorcycle engines can damage iPhone camera stabilization, and recommends a vibration-dampening mount for mopeds and scooters. See camera shaking on a motorcycle.

04Powering through a full delivery shift
Navigation, the screen on constantly, photos at every door and patchy signal all drain battery fast. How you top up depends on how you deliver.
| Your shift | What keeps you charged | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Car, short routes | USB-C PD car charger and a cable | Plenty of drive time between stops to top up |
| Car, lots of walking (apartments, campuses) | Car charger plus a small magnetic power bank | The phone is off the charger for long stretches |
| Bike or scooter | 10,000 mAh power bank in a bag or pocket | No car socket; a cable to the bars keeps the phone alive |
| Long double shifts | 20,000 mAh power bank as a backup | Covers the second half if the car charger can't keep up |
Run the numbers for your phone in the power bank calculator, and see magnetic vs regular power banks if you're torn between snap-on convenience and capacity.
Plug the power bank into a spare car charger port between stops. It refills while you drive and you start the walking stretches full.

Questions people ask
What is the best phone mount for delivery drivers?
One that releases and grabs the phone with one hand. In a car, a strong magnetic mount with a magnetic case is quickest. Without magnets, a gravity clamp mount is the next best choice. On bikes and scooters, use a locking handlebar mount.
How do delivery drivers keep their phone charged?
A USB-C PD car charger tops up the phone between stops, and a small power bank covers stretches on foot. Bike and scooter couriers usually rely on a 10,000 mAh or larger bank.
Are magnetic phone mounts strong enough for delivery work?
Good ones are, as long as your phone has built-in magnets or a proper magnetic case. Very thick rugged cases weaken the hold. Test the mount over rough roads before trusting it.
Is it safe to mount an iPhone on a scooter?
Apple recommends a vibration-dampening mount for mopeds and scooters, and advises against attaching iPhones to high-power motorcycles because strong vibration can affect the camera stabilization.
Do I need a waterproof phone mount for bike delivery?
If you ride in rain regularly, yes. A waterproof bag mount keeps the phone usable through the window and saves wear on the phone's water resistance, which can decrease over time.
